Officials advise no swimming, ocean activities at Po‘ipū Beach due to shark sighting
POʻIPŪ – Kaua‘i Ocean Safety Bureau officials are advising no swimming or other ocean activities at Po‘ipū Beach due to a shark sighting.
OSB officials report that a 3- to 4- foot reef shark was sighted at Po‘ipū Beach today, November 5, at approximately 4:50 p.m. No injuries were reported.
As a safety precaution, OSB officials have posted warning signs and will continue to monitor the area.
Lifeguards will reassess the area later this evening. If there are no other sightings, the beach will reopen to ocean activities Thursday, November 6. Updates will be provided if more information becomes available.
