Electric and hybrid vehicles temporarily not accepted at Puhi Metals until further notice
LĪHU‘E – The County of Kaua‘i Solid Waste Division announces that their contractor, Resource Recovery Solutions, LLC, which operates the Puhi Metals Recycling Center, is unable to accept electric or hybrid vehicles for disposal until further notice.
Due to the potential for hazardous conditions, shipping and handling procedures of these vehicles are being updated at the facility. Specialized contractors are being brought on to assist with this process.
In the meantime, owners of electric or hybrid vehicles are advised to hold on to their vehicles until the County and its contractor can properly dispose of them.
Residents are encouraged to stay informed as updates will be provided once disposal options are available.
For questions or more information, please contact the Solid Waste Division at 808-241-4841 or visit kauai.gov/solidwaste.
