11:45 P.M., July 29, County of Kaua‘i, Tsunami Warning downgraded to Tsunami Advisory
The Tsunami Warning for the County of Kaua‘i has been downgraded to a Tsunami Advisory by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center at 10:39 p.m., July 29.
Based on all available data, a tsunami is not expected to strike the State of Hawai'i. However, dangerous ocean conditions will remain. County officials advise to remain out of the water and away from docks, piers, harbor areas or rivers, and streams subject to tidal surges. The threat will remain until the Tsunami Advisory is cancelled.
The County of Kaua'i has completed conducting a sweep of coastal areas to ensure that it is safe to return along our roads and highway infrastructure, and an all clear has been issued for coastal evacuation zones. County officials ask the public to exercise extreme caution while driving. Upon issuance of this all clear, the County will begin reopening all roadways.
Below is the current status of the Tsunami Advisory in the County of Kaua‘i as of 11:45 p.m., July 29.

Road Closures
All road closures are lifted and the County is in the process of reopening all roadways.
Shelters
All tsunami refuge areas have been closed. The Kaua'i Veterans Center is open for displaced tourists only.
Evacuation Notices
Although evacuations are no longer required, please wait for the issuance of an all clear from the County before returning areas located in coastal evacuation zones.
KIUC Updates
There are currently no updates from the Kaua'i Island Utility Cooperative.
Department of Water
There are currently no updates from the Kaua'i Department of Water.
EOC Status
The Emergency Operations Center is currently activated to Level 1, full activation. All emergency support function have been activated.
Parks
Parks remain closed at this time until the all clear is issued by the County.
The National Weather Service (NWS) issued Tsunami Warning for the State of Hawaii at 2:43 p.m. on July 29 due to an 8.7 magnitude earthquake off the east coast of Kamchatka, Russia. A series of powerful waves and strong currents may impact coasts near you. You are in danger. Get away from coastal waters.
