For Immediate Release: July 20, 2025

3 PM UPDATE: Kūhiō Highway near the Hanalei Bridge remains closed until further notice

Due to elevated water levels, Kūhiō Highway near the Hanalei Bridge remains closed until further notice.

Should the need arise, an emergency shelter at Hale Halawai in Hanalei is on standby.

At 11 a.m. Sunday, the Flash Flood Warning for Kaua‘i expired, according to the National Weather Service.

Ponding, low visibility, and other hazardous driving conditions may remain. If you must drive, please do so with extreme caution.

An updated news release will be issued when Kūhiō Highway near the Hanalei Bridge reopens. Please stay tuned to local media for updates.
