8:55 a.m., April 30, Refuse Transfer Stations Update
Below is the current service status of Kaua‘i’s refuse transfer stations and the Kekaha Landfill as of 8:55 a.m., April 30.
Hanalei Refuse Transfer Station
5-3751 Kuhio Hwy, Princeville
Open 7:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Green waste is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Current Status: Bagged trash only from April 28 to May 3. All other services are available.
Kapa'a Refuse Transfer Station
5051 Kahi Road, Kapa‘a
Open 7:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
Current Status: CLOSED for renovations through December 2025. However, green waste collection at Kapa‘a RTS will remain open. Additionally, residential bagged trash will be accepted Friday to Sunday at the Kapa‘a Base Yard located at 4900 Kahau Road, in Kapa‘a, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Līhu‘e Refuse Transfer Station
3450 Ahukini Road, Līhu‘e
Open 7:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
Current Status: All services are available.
Materials accepted at the Līhu‘e RTS have been temporarily modified. Līhu‘e will not be accepting construction and demolition debris or trailers containing trash. Pallets must be cut into quarters. Hanapēpē Refuse Transfer Station
4380 Lele Road, Hanapēpē
Open 7:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
Current Status: All services are available.
Kekaha Landfill (NEW UPDATE)
6900 Kaumuali‘i Hwy, Kekaha
Open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Closed for lunch from 12 p.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Current Status: Due to technical difficulties with the landfill software, the Kekaha landfill is currently closed to commercial customers. Residents can still bring in their loads for processing. No scrap metal or propane tanks are accepted (large appliances only). All other services are available.
