8:25 a.m., Jan. 31, Refuse Transfer Stations Update

Below is the current service status of Kaua‘i’s refuse transfer stations and the Kekaha Landfill as of 8:25 a.m., Jan. 31.

Hanalei Refuse Transfer Station (NEW UPDATE)
5-3751 Kuhio Hwy, Princeville
Open 7:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Green waste is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Current Status: Scheduled maintenance will be performed on the Hanalei RTS trash compactor on Saturday, Feb. 1. Only bagged trash will be accepted tomorrow; no loose mixed waste. All other services will be offered.

Kapa'a Refuse Transfer Station (NEW UPDATE)
5051 Kahi Road, Kapa‘a
Open 7:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
Current Status: CLOSED for renovations until July 2025. However, green waste collection at Kapa‘a RTS will remain open. Additionally, residential bagged trash will be accepted Friday to Sunday at the Kapa‘a Base Yard located at 4900 Kahau Road, in Kapa‘a, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Due to staffing issues, there will be no bagged trash at the Kapa’a baseyard today, Jan. 31.

Līhu‘e Refuse Transfer Station
3450 Ahukini Road, Līhu‘e
Open 7:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
Current Status: Materials accepted at the Līhu‘e RTS have been temporarily modified. Līhu‘e will not be accepting construction and demolition debris or trailers containing trash. Pallets must be cut into quarters. Hanapēpē Refuse Transfer Station
4380 Lele Road, Hanapēpē
Open 7:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
Current Status: All services are available. 

Kekaha Landfill
6900 Kaumuali‘i Hwy, Kekaha
Open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Closed for lunch from 12 p.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Current Status: No scrap metal or propane tanks accepted (large appliances only). All other services are available.
