LĪHU‘E – The National Weather Service has canceled a High Wind Warning and Flood Watch for the County of Kaua‘i.
County response:
- Officials with the Kaua‘i Emergency Management Agency, Department of Public Works, and other departments will continue to assess any damage to County facilities and infrastructure from the weather event.
County facilities:
- The Wailua Golf Course has suspended tee times through 8 a.m. on Jan. 31 as crews remove debris from the golf course. Updates will be posted when play resumes.
Department of Water conservation notice:
- As of 6:20 a.m. Jan. 31, the Department of Water (DOW) received reports of no water in Kīlauea. DOW crews are assessing the report and will work to restore water service as soon as possible. If new information is received, an update will be provided.
- As of 7 p.m., Jan. 30, Th DOW has issued an immediate water conservation request for customers in 'Anini, Kalihiwai, and portions of Princeville, Hanalei, Wainiha, and Hā‘ena until further notice due to an electrical power outage. Customers are advised to limit water use to essential needs only, such as drinking, cooking, and sanitation purposes, to avoid a full water service outage.
Kaua‘i Island Utility Cooperative:
- KIUC crews began addressing storm-related damages and restoration of power for members today starting at 6 a.m. KIUC is also in the process of assessing whether transmission towers can be accessed via helicopter this morning and will begin those repairs as soon as the area can be accessed safely. Helicopter access is necessary to address outages affecting the Wainiha to Haena area. We appreciate your patience and understanding. County, state, federal officials, and other partners continue to monitor the situation and are actively coordinating during this weather event.
