Jan. 15, 8:20 P.M., County of Kaua‘i, Salt Pond brush fire
Kaua‘i Fire Department firefighters have controlled a fire at Salt Pond Beach Park near Lele Road and Lokokai Road. Crews remain on scene to extinguish remaining hot spots.
There were no reports of damaged structures or injuries.
Fire officials estimate that 4 to 5 acres were scorched. According to a preliminary report, the fire was reported shortly before 4:30 p.m.
Assets
Crews with the Hanapepe and Kalaheo stations, Rescue 1, Tender 1, Air 1, private landowners, the Kauai Police Department, the Department of Public Works, and the on-duty Battalion Chief responded to the incident.
The Kaua‘i Emergency Management Agency also monitored the blaze.
Road closures
At this time, there are no road closures. However, the public is strongly advised to avoid the area as crews remain on scene.
