News Release

For Immediate Release: January 7, 2025

Jan. 7, 3:15 P.M., County of Kaua‘i, Anahola brush fire

Kaua‘i Fire Department firefighters have knocked down a brush fire in Anahola near Ehukai Road.

Crews are currently dousing hotspots and monitoring the area.

No injuries or damages to structures were reported.

Assets

Crews with the Kapa‘a, Kaiākea, and Līhu‘e fire stations, Tender 1, Public Works, Air 1, the on-duty Battalion Chief, the Kaua‘i Police Department, and Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting firefighters responded to the incident.

The Kaua‘i Emergency Management Agency is monitoring the incident. 

Road closures and evacuations

At this time, Ehukai Road, between Pilipoli Road and Holoikalapa Street, is closed. The Public is advised to avoid the area.

According to preliminary reports, the fire was reported shortly before 12:25 p.m. Fire officials estimate the fire to be fewer than 10 acres.

As a precaution, a few homes along Ehukai Road were evacuated. The fire moved along the coastline away from homes.
