Dec. 27, 11:45 P.M., County of Kaua‘i, Wainiha brush fire
Kaua‘i Fire Department firefighters are responding to a brush fire in Wainiha up mauka, along Kūhiō Highway, near mile-marker 5.
At this time, there are no immediate threats to homes.
Assets
Crews with the Hanalei Fire Station are on scene. Because the fire is up mauka, it is currently inaccesable. KFD personnel is monitoring the fire.
The Kaua‘i Emergency Management Agency is also monitoring the incident.
Road closures
At this time, Kūhiō Highway near mile-marker 5 by Lumaha‘i Beach is closed under further notice.
Updates will be posted when more information becomes available.
