KAPA‘A - The County of Kaua‘i, in partnership with the Friends of Kamalani and Lydgate Park, invites the public to the 2024 “Make a Difference Day” celebration at the Lydgate Beach Park Main Pavilion on Oct. 19.
Community members are invited to gather at the Main Pavilion starting at 8:30 a.m. for check-in, followed by a day of volunteer activities aimed at improving Lydgate Beach Park and the surrounding area. Projects will include beach, park, and coastal cleanups, playground maintenance, and disc golf course enhancements.
The day's highlight will be the official induction ceremony for Ke Ala Hele Makālae into the Rails to Trails Conservancy Hall of Fame. The ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. and recognize the trail’s significant role in connecting people to nature and promoting healthy, active lifestyles. The celebration will also feature a guided bicycle adventure along the path, offering participants a firsthand experience of this iconic trail.
Attendees will enjoy various events, including lunch and a raffle with exciting prizes. Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own work gloves, leaf rakes, water bottles, sun protection, and bicycles if participating in the ride.
