For Immediate Release: September 16, 2024

8:50 a.m., Sept. 16, Refuse Transfer Stations Update

Below is the current service status of Kaua‘i’s refuse transfer stations and the Kekaha Landfill as of 8:50 a.m., Sept. 16.

Hanalei Refuse Transfer Station
5-3751 Kuhio Hwy, Princeville
Open 7:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Green waste is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Current Status: Due to equipment failure, trash is not being accepted. All other services are available. 

Kapa'a Refuse Transfer Station
5051 Kahi Road, Kapa‘a
Open 7:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
Current Status: Due to equipment failure, only bagged trash is accepted until further notice. Metals drop-off will experience temporary closures on Tuesdays and Fridays (Wednesdays and Saturdays during weeks with Holidays) to allow our metals hauler to remove the material safely. 

Līhu‘e Refuse Transfer Station
3450 Ahukini Road, Līhu‘e
Current Status: CLOSED for renovations until Nov. 2

Hanapēpē Refuse Transfer Station
4380 Lele Road, Hanapēpē
Open 7:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
Current Status: Due to equipment failure, only bagged trash is accepted until further notice. All other services are available. 

Kekaha Landfill
6900 Kaumuali‘i Hwy, Kekaha
Open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Closed for lunch from 12 p.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Current Status: All services are available.
