LĪHU‘E – The Kaua‘i Fire Department, in partnership with the Kaua‘i Philippine Cultural Center, invites the community to the 2024 Fire Prevention Week kick-off event on Oct. 5 at the Kaua‘i Philippine Cultural Center from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
“This event is a great opportunity to bring our partners and community together to prevent fires at home as well as dangerous wildfires,” said KFD Fire Chief Michael Gibson. “Besides our community risk reduction programs, we want to introduce our public education curriculum to families to encourage fire prevention conservations that begin at home. ”
The free event will include informational booths by the Kaua‘i Emergency Management Agency, Kaua‘i Police Department, American Red Cross, and Ocean Safety Bureau. In addition, there will be fire extinguisher training, hands-on CPR demonstrations, personal wildland fire education, and information on the Fall Prevention program for kūpuna.
A family event, the kick-off will include fire trucks, picture taking with Sparky and Smokey the Bear, games, prizes, and more.
