Traffic incident in Princeville causes temporary closure of Kūhiō Highway
PRINCEVILLE – Police responded to a single-vehicle traffic incident that occurred in the vicinity of Hanalei Plantation Road on Wednesday, Feb. 21, which resulted in the closure of Kūhiō Highway.
At approximately 1:30 p.m., a 2004 Lexus multi-purpose vehicle with two occupants was traveling northbound on Kūhiō Highway when the vehicle crossed the center line and struck the southbound embankment. The vehicle spun around and came to a stop in the center of the road, obstructing traffic in both directions. Both occupants were treated at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries and transported to the Wilcox Memorial Hospital.
Kūhiō Highway was closed for approximately one hour as first responders worked to clear the roadway.
