2 kayakers rescued in waters off Kalalau Beach Wednesday
HANAKOA – Two 18-year-old male residents were rescued in waters off Kalalau Beach on Wednesday.
No injuries were reported.
Personnel with the Hanalei fire station, Ocean Safety Bureau, Rescue 3 aboard Air 1, and the United States Coast Guard responded to the incident.
According to a preliminary report, shortly after 10 a.m., first responders were notified of two missing kayakers in the ocean between Kalalau and Hanakoa.
After 40 minutes into the search, a red kayak was spotted in waters about a quarter mile from Kalalau Beach. Shortly after, OSB personnel with the North Rove Ski Patrol spotted the first kayaker and brought him to Kalalau Beach.
