USB Thumb Drives Can Be Risky and Dangerous!

Ever found a USB thumb drive on the ground and plugged it in to find out who owned it? In some instances, a Good Samaritan act can not only infect your computer, but also the entire GovDelivery network!

Remember the Stuxnet story? Malware was allegedly delivered to a nuclear reactor via a thumb drive someone found in the parking lot and plugged into their computer.

Recommendation:

If you find a USB thumb drive, don’t plug it in! If you think it belongs to someone in the office, drop it off with Edie and post a picture on Chatter. If you find it within or just outside the building, you can give it to the security guard in the main floor lobby. Otherwise, just throw it away - it’s not worth the risk.
