 North Center Street Underpass to Close for Up to Six Weeks Beginning October 19
The North Center Street underpass between West May Street and West Athens Street will close to through traffic beginning Monday, October 19, for up to six weeks, weather permitting. The closure is part of the Center Street Stormwater Outfall Project, which will address persistent flooding at the underpass and improve drainage along the corridor.
Emergency vehicle access will be maintained, and nearby businesses will remain accessible during construction. Drivers should plan alternate routes and allow extra travel time.
 Get ready for Spooktacular
Downtown Winder will transform into a pirate’s paradise Friday, Oct. 23, from 5–9 p.m. as the 13th Annual Spooktacular sets sail with this year’s theme, “Winder’s Pirate Cove!”
The free, family-friendly Halloween celebration features trick-or-treating throughout downtown from 5–7 p.m., plus food trucks, music, children's activities, a costume contest and a variety show featuring aerial arts, juggling and LED acrobatics at Jug Tavern Park.
Please note that road closings for this event will start around 1 p.m. in downtown. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early as parking is limited.
