Summer 2023 Recap
Over 2,000 families, youth, and teens have been serviced through our summer programs including camps, special events, and more. We opened a new playground at Hunter Park and hosted numerous tournaments, weddings, and events for ages 50+. We look forward to seeing everyone in the fall! Stay connected with us. Douglasville Parks Partners with Atlanta Hawks, QuikTrip and Adidas

We would like to thank the Atlanta Hawks Basketball Program Department for making a stop to Douglasville Parks and Recreation on their Community Court Summer Tour. Close to 100 camp participants received free basketball training, swag bags and sports gear complements of the Atlanta Hawks, Adidas, and QuikTrip. |

Fall Baseball League
Registration closes August 4
Let's play ball! Registration is open for the 2023 Fall Baseball League at Hunter Park. Practice begins on August 12 and the season kicks off on September 9. Open to ages 3-14, it's the perfect opportunity to hone your skills and make lifelong memories on the diamond. This program is eligible for the Dare 2 Play Scholarship Program!

Fall Girls Softball League
Registration closes August 11
Calling all young ladies aged 5-12 to embark on an exciting softball journey filled with skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Whether you're a beginner or have experience on the field, we welcome players of all skill levels. We can't wait to see you shine on the diamond! This program is eligible for the Dare 2 Play Scholarship Program!

Girls Volleyball League
Registration closes August 18
Spike into our girls volleyball league for ages 10-15. Practice starts August 26, and the season kicks off on September 16. This program is eligible for the Dare 2 Play Scholarship Program!

Cheer2Motivate: Basketball Cheer Program
Registration opens August 1
Learn basketball cheers, chants and dance routines. Spirit packets include 1 Spirit shirt, a cheer hair bow and cheer bag. T-shirt and pom-pom orders are due by October 31. All experience levels are welcome and there won't be tryouts. Cheerleaders will perform during Douglasville Youth Basketball games beginning in December. Pop Up at the Park

We're hosting our first Pop Up at the Park on Sunday, August 27 from 1:00 - 3:00 PM at Hunter Park (8830 Gurley Road Douglasville, GA 30134). The purpose of Pop Up at the Park is to bring recreation and community reading resources to families. Hands-on demonstration /activities after readings include special guest appearances by local authors, refreshments and scavenger hunts. This event is free of charge. Embrace the sweet moments of life together with good company and even better flavors at an Ice Cream Social on Friday, August 18 from 1:00 - 3:30 PM at the Hawthorne Community Center (7775 Malone St. Douglasville, GA 30134).

Therapeutic Recreation Fall Festival
Friday, September 15 from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM at Hunter Memorial Park
Join Douglasville Parks and Recreation department as we kick off our therapeutic recreation programs for individuals with disabilities. Our 2nd Annual Fall Festival welcomes all to a day filled with family fun activities where you can enjoy pumpkin painting, food, games, and more! The festival is free to the public. We invite local adult day programs, schools and organizations who work closely with the therapeutic recreation community. Thank you to Metro Atlanta Garage for providing lunch for participants.

Paint with a Purpose
Friday, September 22 at Ike Owings Community Center from 6:00 - 8:00 PM
Come out and enjoy an evening of Painting with a Purpose. We will have snacks, games and music for each person to discover their inner artistic styles. The $10 fee includes supplies for the art project. This is an inclusive event for all ages and diverse abilities. This event is free for ages 4 and under. Chaperones must register.

Hunters Harvest Fall Festival and Arts & Craft Show
Vendor registration opens July 14
The 7th annual Hunters Harvest Fall Festival and Arts & Craft Show at Hunter Park will be held on October 28, 2023 from 11 AM - 3 PM. This event will feature vendors from all over West Georgia and Metro ATL with varying arts & crafts and food and beverage items. Over 40 vendors are expected to attend. The festival will also include a children’s play zone featuring inflatables and other amenities. All festival attendees are encouraged to wear costumes. This event is free and open to the public. We will have a pup zone for our furry friends. Show off your doggy's best costume while we have games and activities for all to enjoy.
Vendor fees are $40 per vendor. Tables, chairs, and tents will not be provided. Only the 10 x 10 space as designated. Food Vendor spaces are limited and must comply to Douglas County Special Event food handling standards. There will be a limited number of vendor spaces with electricity availability for an extra $5.
