Douglasville Parks and Recreation is the 2022 Agency of the Year
Douglasville Parks and Recreation was selected as the State Agency of the Year for the 20,001-50,000 population division by GRPA (Georgia Recreation and Park Association).
This award honors communities throughout Georgia that demonstrate excellence in long-range planning, resource management, and innovative approaches to delivering superb park and recreation services with fiscally sound business practices.

Inaugural Spring 2023 Adaptive Basketball
Registration opens December 1
This semi-competitive program will teach the basic basketball skills and drills for individuals with diverse abilities. Each week, players will learn sportsmanship, teamwork, basketball skills and improve their cognitive and social skills. Registration is open to ages 7+ and the cost is $30 for the 5-week program. This includes the jersey, individual picture and end of season celebration.

Passport to Latin Dance
This course includes the progressive instruction of the basic techniques of Salsa, Bachata, Cha-Cha, Merengue, and Afro-Cuban Rumba. Course also includes footwork, partner work, styling, timing, and the cultural significance of each dance. Get moving HERE.

Medicare 101 Educational Classes
Next class is December 1 (11 AM - 2 PM) and (6 PM - 8 PM) at the Ike Owings Community Center
This program will enable participants to make well informed decisions in regards to Medicare and Medicaid. Participants will also learn protection methods against medicare fraud, scams, and potentially save money on medication cost and premiums. The curriculum is approved by the Department of Medicine and Medicaid Services. Register HERE.

Therapeutic Recreation – Winter Bowling
Friday, December 9 from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Southern Lanes Bowling 3931 Longview Dr, Douglasville, GA 30135
Come out and join the Douglasville Parks and Recreation department as we kick off our therapeutic recreation programs for individuals with disabilities. All are welcome to attend this event filled with a fun night of bowling, food, and socializing! The fee covers bowling, Christmas themed crafts and food. Santa’s Helper – Parent’s Night Out
Saturday, December 17 from 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM at the Ike Owings Community Center
We are here to help for the holiday season. For one night, we will host children so parents/caregivers can take time to do last minute shopping, go out on a date or take a night off. We will have holiday-themed activities and crafts for the kids to do while you are out. Food and activities are provided. Registration is open HERE.

Kid’s Day Off “Holiday Edition” Camp
Monday, December 19 - Wednesday, December 21 from 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM at the Ike Owings Community Center
KDO (Kids Day Off) Holiday Edition Camp is a three-day minicamp session prior to Christmas. KDO Camps are modified versions of Camp FUNtastic where campers engage in various social, educational, environmental, and recreational activities.
