Congrats, Chris Bass
Congrats to Chris Bass, for being selected as the 2021 Young Professional of the Year by the Douglas County Chamber. Chris was presented the award by our Assistant City Manager, Chelsea Jackson.
Chris has risen quickly in his career as he was recently appointed Director for Douglasville Parks and Recreation. He has taken operations to new heights by developing innovative programs and events that benefit the city. His dedication is unmatched and challenges other professionals to demonstrate the same passion. He is a mentor in his community and to other recreation professionals.

AARP Tax-Aide Program
AARP Foundation Tax-Aide will be providing in-person free of charge to anyone, with a special focus on taxpayers who are 50 or older or who have low to moderate-income. Tax-Aide will be available Thursdays only through April 7 by appointment only at Ike Owings Community Center at Hunter Park. Call 678-719-9067 to make an appointment.

Volleyball Mini Clinics
Registration opens March 1
We excited to offer volleyball clinics every Monday for girls ages 9 - 12 years old at Hawthorne Community Center. Clinics will be limited to a maximum of 20 participants per session. Clinics begin Monday, March 21 and end on Monday, May 18. All participants should bring volleyball knee pads and water.

Pedal Pushers
Come join us on Wednesdays at 10:30am for a fun and interactive group bike ride. The cost is $5, and helmets are not included. Anyone under the age of 16 must provide a helmet to ride. See you Wednesday at the Ike Owings Community Center!

The STEAM Generation: Jr. Explorer STEAM Camp
This class introduces our youngest engineers to fundamental concepts of energy and movement. Students will explore and construct their own roller coasters, catapults, and more!

Join us for Machine Mania: gears, pulleys, axles, and wheels, we've got them all! Students will construct a rollercoaster track, an egg drop vehicle, and MORE.

Tiny Dancers Ballet 1 and Ballet II
Stay On Pointe Dance Academy is offering Tiny Dancers Ballet I for ages 3-6 and Tiny Dancers Ballet II for ages 7-10. These classes are a fun introduction to ballet where students can develop rhythm, flexibility, and confidence.

Join us for How to Train Your Dragon at Fowler Field! Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to view the movie on the field.

Breakfast with the Easter Bunny: April 16
Registration closes April 11
The Easter Bunny is stopping by Hunter Park on April 16 from 9 AM - 11 AM! During breakfast, the Easter Bunny will be hopping around visiting with guests while sniffing around for carrots. This event is $10 per person and registration is required. Children 3 and younger are free. There will be 3 age-specific Easter Egg Hunts immediately after breakfast and prizes for golden eggs, raffles, and candy.

We invite you and your furry friends to come out for a free day of fun on Saturday, May 7 from 10 AM - 1 PM at Worthan Park! We'll have vendors, photos, treats and more for your favorite pup. There will also be a costume contest! We're currently accepting vendors. Dogs must remain on a leash at all times. |
Kids to Parks Day: May 21
Kids to Parks Day is an annual day of outdoor exploration at local, state, and national parks and public lands across the country. Come out on Saturday, May 21 to our newly renovated Willing Workers Club Community Park from 10 AM - 2PM for this fun-filled day in the park of games, crafts, food, and activities for all to enjoy.
