Help Support Conservation through Tax Checkoff

A new wildlife video and Tax Day have this in common: Georgians filing their taxes by Wednesday can provide crucial support for the conservation focus featured in the video.

Conserving Georgia’s Nongame Wildlife: 2014” shows highlights from DNR’s Nongame Conservation Section. Successes, most culminating from years of work and many agency partners, include the federal down-listing of wood storks and an agreement to help conserve Georgia aster.

In all, the public’s support is vital.

Georgians can help by contributing to the Georgia Wildlife Conservation Fund checkoff when they file their state returns. Giving is easy, and any amount helps!

The checkoff made up 10 percent of fund revenues in 2014. The Nongame Conservation Section leveraged the fund to obtain and match grants, receiving $2 to $3 for every $1 spent from the fund.
