FISH FOR THE BIG ONES AT PANIC POND BEGINNING SATURDAY, MARCH 1

The only sense of urgency you might find at Panic Pond after this Saturday will be from anglers scrambling for the camera to capture a photo of their latest lunker catch, according to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ Wildlife Resources Division.

Panic Pond, a 15-acre natural lake found at Silver Lake Wildlife Management Area, opens to the public on Saturday, March 1 for the first time since the state took ownership of the area in 2010.

“Fisheries staff have seen some incredible fish as they prepared this pond for its opening,” said John Biagi, fisheries management chief.  “With an average weight of more than six pounds, and a heaviest weight of more than ten pounds, I think this area should definitely be on the destination list for any bass angler that wants to hook a big one.”
