Di-Lane WMA Quail Quota Hunt Selection
Congratulations on your selection to hunt bobwhite quail this year at Di-Lane Wildlife Management Area. Please carefully read this entire message because it contains information that you need to know before you come to Di-Lane for your hunt.
As the selected hunter, you and up to two (2) other persons may hunt. You must be present (your party cannot hunt without you), you may only hunt on the date that you were selected for, and you may not transfer your quota selection to anyone else.
Prior to hunting, you must check-in at the Di-Lane Check Station. Check-in is self-service. An envelope with your name will be in a box at the check-station building. The envelope will contain a map and survey form for you to complete and return at the end of your hunt. Survey questions include number of hours hunted, number of coveys found, number of quail harvested, etc. Hunters are required to return the completed survey to the check station following the hunt. Your assistance in providing accurate information will help us better manage our wildlife resources. License requirements for this hunt are a state hunting license and a Wildlife Management Area license.
Cover conditions at Di-Lane continue to be excellent, and we strongly encourage the use of bird dogs to locate quail and retrieve downed game. The WMA does not provide bird dogs; therefore, it is your responsibility to supply bird dogs for your hunt. You may hunt anywhere on the WMA on a first come, first served basis – there are no designated hunting areas for your hunt. Please be courteous to other hunters. You may drive vehicles (including ATVs) only on the roads that are open for vehicle traffic.
Because quail habitat conditions on Di-Lane continue to be very good, we expect quail hunting to be at least as good as the last several years. Hunters are reminded that overharvest of individual coveys may reduce the quality of quail hunting in future years. Voluntary restraint from harvesting quail from coveys having less than six (6) birds is encouraged to help protect future quail populations. We appreciate your interest in quail hunting and hope you have an enjoyable visit to Di-Lane Plantation WMA.
If you have questions about hunting at Di-Lane, please call us at 706-595-4222 and we will be happy to assist you in any way possible.
