NEW: OCTOBER GOOSE HUNTING SEASON OCT. 12. 12- 27
For the first time this year, waterfowl hunters have the chance to hunt Canada geese in October. This new season runs Oct.12-27. Georgia has a resident Canada goose population of about 250,000, and they are scattered across the entire state.
Beginning this fall, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has allowed Georgia to add additional days to the goose hunting season, so the Wildlife Resources Division has selected Oct. 12-27 as a means to provide hunting opportunity between the September goose hunting season and the regular waterfowl season that starts in late November.
For hunters taking advantage of this new season, be sure to have the proper licenses in your possession: Georgia hunting license, Georgia waterfowl license, Federal duck stamp and HIP permit (also a WMA license if hunting at a WMA). You can purchase or renew these licenses at http://georgiawildlife.com/licenses-permits-passes.
