Installation and Maintenance of Rod Surface Elevation Tables (RSETs)
Hammersmith Creek, Glynn County, Lewis Creek and Buttermilk Sound, McIntosh County, Georgia.
This serves as a notification from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources of the issuance of a Letter of Permission (LOP) to the Indiana University, School of Public and Environmental Affairs to install and maintain three (3) new Rod Surface Elevation Tables (RSETs) at three Georgia Coastal Ecosystems - Long Term Ecological Research (GCE- LTER) monitoring sites during the period between no sooner than fifteen (15) days after the date of this letter and conclude no later than January 15, 2014.
The three new locations are at GCE site 8 at Hammersmith Creek in Glynn County (31.302752, -81.414641), GCE site 7 at Buttermilk Sound in McIntosh County (31.334858, -81.4785472) and GCE site 11 near Lewis Island in McIntosh County (31.38043, -81.49595). The new RSETs consist of 3/16 inch diameter stainless steel survey rod driven into the ground 40-75 feet, creating a benchmark for measurements. SETs will be measured from portable aluminum planks designed to provide low impact access.
