EGG WATCH ON AT ATLANTA FALCONS NEST CAM
It's egg-hatching time at the Atlanta peregrine falcons nest live-streamed by the Georgia Wildlife Resources Division.
Stay tuned on our Ustream channel to see the first chick emerge!
And then keep watching as this falcon family grows. There are four eggs in all!
The peregrine nest is in a balcony planter more than 50 stories high at SunTrust Plaza. The first egg this season was laid March 5; the last, March 12 or 13. The eggs hatch after about 30 days.
Wildlife Resources' Nongame Conservation Section installed the HD Internet camera this winter, replacing an older camera that recorded lower quality video.
Key support for the project came from The Environmental Resources Network, or TERN, the Nongame Conservation friends group; McKenna Long & Aldridge, an international law firm with offices overlooking the nest; and the Garden Club of Georgia Inc.
- Follow us and watch 24/7 on Ustream. Building lights allow some viewing even at night! (More viewing tips.)
