It's that time of year again! Here are a couple links for your convenience as you prepare for another great hunting season in Georgia:

  • PRINT your free HIP License. All hunters required to have a hunting license must obtain a FREE Migratory Bird Hunting License, commonly referred to as a HIP License, each hunting season to hunt doves, ducks, geese, rails and other migratory bird species. The license expires at the end of February each year. See below for step-by-step instructions for getting one.

  • PRINT your free Deer Harvest Record. All persons hunting deer must obtain a FREE Deer Harvest Record each hunting season. This is a requirement even if the person is not otherwise required to have a hunting and big game license. The Deer Harvest Record expires at the end of February each year. See below for step-by-step instructions for getting one.

  • PURCHASE a duck stamp. All persons over 16 must obtain a Federal Migratory Bird Hunting and Conservation Stamp, commonly referred to as a Duck Stamp, to hunt waterfowl (brant, ducks, geese and swans). The Federal Duck Stamp is available for a fee at Post Offices, from some Georgia license agents, and online at http://www.fws.gov/duckstamps/stamps.htm.

Each of these requirements serves an important function in managing wildlife populations. If you have already obtained them, thank you for your commitment to wildlife conservation! Please forward this message to friends or family who may need these links.

The HIP License and Deer Harvest Record are FREE and SEASONAL requirements for hunters.  To obtain them:

1. Visit the Georgia Wildlife Resources Division’s web page or go directly to the license sales site .

2. Once at the license sales site, click on “Begin License Purchase.”

3. Follow the prompts to find your account and select the HIP and/or Deer Harvest Record in the license menu. Both are FREE. Continue on as if purchasing the license and at the end of the process you can print your free license. For more detailed instructions, click here

4. If you select the HIP license, you will be asked a few short questions about your 2011 hunting season. After answering the questions, add the license to your shopping bag and checkout.

5. If you don't see the free Deer Harvest Record or free HIP License available in the list of licenses, these privileges are already on your account. To print a free copy of your license go to the bottom of the table where you’ll see these licenses listed and select "Replace all current licenses on file.” Continue on as if purchasing a license, and at the end of the process you will be able to print your license at no charge.

You can also obtain any Georgia license by visiting a retail license agent or by calling 1.800.366.2661.
