A.H. Stephens State Park is a hidden gem with a loyal following. Just off I-20, the park is easy to reach and a favorite destination for equestrians. Guests love the small campground with spacious sites, fishing lakes, nature trails and group shelter. Four cottages are available for those who prefer a fully equipped kitchen and screened porch. This year marks the 80th anniversary of President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s death in Warm Springs. He had been posing for a portrait when he suffered a stroke, and that unfinished portrait now hangs in the Little White House Historic Site’s museum. An April 12 ceremony will honor the memory of one of our nation’s most influential presidents, and guest speakers include Senator Raphael Warnock and FDR’s great-grandson Haven Roosevelt Luke. Held each year on the lawn, the ceremony includes a military band and color guard. Throughout the day, you can tour the shaded grounds, museum and president’s modest vacation home as well. Cottages and campsites are available at nearby F.D. Roosevelt State Park.
Our program theme for 2025 is “Wild Georgia," highlighting Georgia’s conservation efforts and the State Wildlife Action Plan. Find a complete list of programs on GaStateParks.org.
