Between Macon and Atlanta is High Falls State Park, named for tumbling cascades along the Towaliga River. Hikers will find beautiful views and scenic overlooks on 4.5 miles of trails, while anglers will appreciate excellent fishing for hybrid and white bass. Plan to stay in glamping yurts or campsites to take advantage of the many ranger programs, like mushroom talks and tree identification hikes. Being close to I-75 makes High Falls a convenient home base for visiting nearby Dauset Trails, Dames Ferry, Jarrell Plantation, Indian Springs and Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Did you know Georgia is home to 640 animal and plant species that are high priorities for conservation? Georgia’s State Wildlife Action Plan is a strategy to conserve native wildlife and their natural habitats. This year's programming theme is “Wild Georgia,” and throughout 2025, our rangers will lead programs focused on species like the Gopher Tortoise or Eastern Indigo Snake. Programs are available for all ages, and you’ll learn ways to help statewide conservation efforts too. 2025's Wild Georgia Calendar of Events
