Richmond Hill Shooting Range Damaged by Fire: 100-yard Range Temporarily Closed
Effective immediately, the 100-yard rifle range at the Richmond Hill Shooting Range located at Richmond Hill Wildlife Management Area in Bryan County is closed due to severe damage from a fire on property, according to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources' Wildlife Resources Division. The pistol range and archery range are still open. Â
The 100-yard rifle range backstop was damaged by the fire and the electronic targeting system was completely destroyed, requiring closure of the 100-yard rifle range. The rifle range will remain closed until the full extent of the damage assessed and clean-up and repairs can be completed. A re-opening date is not yet determined. Â
The Richmond Hill Archery Range and Pistol Range will remain open. The nearest open DNR public range is Bullard Creek (to the west of Big Hammock). Other opportunities to shoot can be found at https://www.wheretoshoot.org/.
