Summer Camp Registration is now Open!

 We have six amazing summer camps at Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center planned for kids ages 6 – 16 that explore nature and wildlife this summer. Consider sending your child, niece, nephew or grandchild to one of our day or overnight camps. Register online!

Day Camps

6/3-6/7  Where the Wild Things Are Camp (Ages: 6-8) $150-"Let the wild rumpus start!" Using play, crafts, live animal encounters, and games campers escape to the natural world to have amazing adventures each day. During this camp, campers get a chance to tell their own “WILD” story of where the wild things are

6/17-6/21  Nature Heroes Camp (Ages: 8-10) $150- Using Marvel and DC comic book personas, campers develop skills and knowledge to help protect some of Georgia’s amazing wildlife. Some of the activities in superhero training include archery, wildlife identification, fishing, and canoeing. By the end of the camp, campers will utilize those skills to become the next “CEWC Earth Warriors” and earn special hero gear!

Overnight Camps

6/10-6/14 Gone Fishin’ Camp (ages 11-13) $325- Campers will spend the week learning about fishing and fisheries management. Activities include mastering fishing techniques, identifying what goes into a tackle box, exploring fish biology, and of course, a lot of fishing! Campers will develop the skills needed to "catch the big one!"

6/24 –6/28  Outdoor Adventure Team Challenge Camp (ages 11-13) $325 - Team Challenge Camp is packed full of outdoor pursuits such as hiking, canoeing, fire building, and wilderness survival that culminate into challenges throughout the week to earn the bragging rights of Team Challenge Champions!

7/8-7/11 Shooting Sports Camp (ages 12-16) $350 - Campers will receive gun safety and hands-on instruction from DNR Professionals in Archery, Shotgun, and Rifle shooting. 

7/8-7/12 Out Huntin' Camp (ages 12-16) $350- Interested in becoming a hunter but don’t know how to get started? Spend the week learning about Georgia’s game animals and how to successfully pursue them. You will learn basic wildlife biology and behavior, hunter safety practices, hunting methods, and firearms handling, as well as game processing and preparation for the table. By week’s end, participants will have completed Georgia’s hunter safety certification requirements


Spring Public Programs

Keeping GA WILD day

This spring come join CEWC staff and friends as we continue our public program series into spring! From hiking to bears, there is something for everyone.

4/19 Be Bear Aware- 6:30pm-8:30pm Join bear biologist Adam Hammond in an exploration into the black bears of Georgia. He will be providing a brief overview of bear research and management activities in the state and then introduce BearWise principles and how to live responsibly with bears. Cost is $7 per person. Register online.

4/20 Seasonal Hikes with John Jensen: 10am-12pm Each season, come join naturalist John Jensen as he takes you on a journey of Georgia's wildlife by learning identification, ecology, and some amazing fun facts. Cost is $5 per person. Register online! 

5/18 Keeping GA WILD Day:  9am-2pm This FREE festival includes an array of activities that focus on Georgia wildlife, conservation, and outdoor recreational opportunities. Kids can try archery, fishing, shooting sports, and tree climbing. Come as you are. First 500 kids get a free t-shirt. Free hot dog lunch is also provided.  

Noteworthy

  • Please continue to be careful on Murder Creek Church Road with multiple construction projects.
  • There is a youth turkey quota hunt on Clybel WMA on April 6-10, 20-24 and a quota adult hunt on April 13-17. During this time the multi-use trail is closed until 10a.m. For more information please refer to your hunting regulations
  • Lake Margery is still closed. Lake is scheduled to re-open in Fall of 2024.
