National Hunting and Fishing Day

September 28, 2019 is National Hunting and Fishing Day and there are FREE Events happening statewide. This is a great opportunity to take someone outside and get them hooked on fishing, hunting, hiking, birdwatching, or another outdoor activity. NHF Day is also a FREE fishing day! Residents do not need a fishing license or a trout license to fish on any public waters in the state including lakes, streams, ponds and Public Fishing Areas. FLW Pro-Angler Clayton Batts Fishing Seminar

Want to learn more about fall bass fishing techniques, patterns, and baits? Clayton Batts will be sharing fishing tips and techniques he uses on the FLW Tour at the Go Fish Education Center in Perry next Tuesday, Oct. 1 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Admission is $6 per person. Also, be sure to register for a chance to win a ½-day guided fishing trip to Lake Eufaula with Clayton. More event info.

Trophy Bass Angler Award Program

Have you landed a trophy bass this year? You may be eligible for a free replica mount of your fish as part of Georgia DNR's Angler Awards program. This program seeks to collect genetics and growth data from the heaviest largemouth bass in order to guide management decisions. Successful anglers will also receive a certificate, hat, t-shirt, entry into a grand prize drawing at end of the year, 2 passes to the Go Fish Education Center, and their photo shared on WRD Social Media. Rules and eligibility.

Lake Burton Hatchery Renovations

Lake Burton Hatchery To Get Face-lift

Please pardon our progress! For the first time in 70-plus years, the Lake Burton Trout Hatchery raceways are empty and dry. Built in the 1930’s, Burton Hatchery is long overdue for a renovation. This large-scale project will temporarily alter visiting hours for the public. The area will be open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m., but will be closed on weekends. Read full story.

David Alcaraz - 1st International Bass Slammer

First International Bass Slammer

David Alcaraz of Granada, Spain was in Georgia for two weeks this year visiting family. Having fished during his visit in 2018, he came back with the goal of landing a Georgia Bass Slam to “discover nice locations and wonderful fish.” David completed his slam by catching a Bartram's, Largemouth, Redeye, Shoal, Spotted, and Suwannee Bass. Join us at the Go Fish Education Center for a fishing seminar from FLW Pro-Angler Clayton Batts. He will be sharing fall fishing tips and techniques he uses on the FLW tour. Admission is $6.

Go Fish Education Center Homeschool Programs
This introductory level camp is designed for youth, age 7-15, who would like to get outdoors and learn the basics of fishing. Cost is $100 per camper. Pre-registration required by July 12 for this Session.
