Reel In a 2019 Angler Award

The new and improved Georgia Angler Award Program recognizes anglers in Georgia who catch fish that meet or exceed a specific weight or length for that particular species. It also allows DNR to collect information on the genetics, age, growth, and habitats of big fish to help manage our fisheries to their greatest potential. Three new categories have been added for 2019: Youth, Trophy Bass, and Public Fishing Areas. Get out there and #GoFishGeorgia. More info.

Trophy Trout Caught on Lake Lanier

Congratulations to Brooke Wheeler of Snellville for catching a trophy rainbow trout March 2nd on Lake Lanier! The hook-jawed male stretched the tape to 28 ½ inches and pulled the arrow of the certified scale down to the 9 pounds, 6 ounce mark. That’s certainly a trophy anywhere, and especially in north Georgia!  Read the full story.
