NEW PUBLIC HUNTING AREA IN MITCHELL COUNTY OPENS NOVEMBER 3: QUOTA HUNT DEADLINES
Hunters in Mitchell County have a brand new public hunting area available this season! Jackson Farms has 567 acres of upland and lowland habitats and is located northeast of Meigs, along Big Creek and Hurst Tate Road, according to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ Wildlife Resources Division (WRD).
2016-17 hunting opportunities for Jackson Farms VPA include two sign-in archery deer hunts, two quota primitive/shotgun deer hunts, a 21-day sign-in small game season, and five quota 3-day turkey hunts.
This new area is one of several in Georgia in which landowners have worked with WRD in utilizing the U.S. Department of Agriculture funded Voluntary Public Access (VPA) Program to temporarily enter lands into the WRD Wildlife Management Area (WMA) system and for the purpose of allowing public hunting access.
