HURRICANE MATTHEW CAUSES SAPELO ISLAND QUOTA HUNT CANCELLATION
The incoming threat of Hurricane Matthew has created potentially unsafe conditions on Sapelo Island. Unfortunately, this means that the Sapelo Island Quota Hunt, scheduled for Oct. 7-9, 2016, is cancelled.
"We are beyond disappointed that this hunt has to be cancelled, as we know that people have made extensive plans for time off and travel," said Rusty Garrison, Director, Georgia DNR Wildlife Resources Division. "However, there was just no way, in good faith, that we could allow our staff or guests to risk their safety during this kind of weather situation."
Hunters will receive their hunt priority points BACK when hunt is cancelled by DNR.
