 Anderson Cohen to Host the Nation's Top Weightlifters
Next month, 200 of the nation’s top male and female weightlifters will head to Anderson Cohen Weightlifting Center for the inaugural Elite Masters Invitational Tournament, hosted by USA Masters.
Over the course of the four-day tournament, athletes will compete in three to four sessions each day, going head-to-head with others in their age groups to determine the best of the best in their age groups, which range from 30 to 90 years old.

Chatham County honored the life of West Chatham Community Activist Anita Boutwell on Saturday, June 6, with a commemoration ceremony for a custom park bench in L. Scott Stell Park.
Boutwell was devoted to the improvement of the West Chatham Community and founded the West Chatham County Community Watch Committee, giving residents a place to voice concerns about their community.

The Frank G. Murray Community Center came alive with culture and tradition during this year’s Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month celebration on May 28.
The event featured a variety of cultural experiences, including traditional lei making with Marianne Reeves Art, a coconut husking and grating demonstration, performances by the Chinese Association and Chamorro Cultural Dancers, and Filipino desserts from Narra Tree.
Guests also explored cultural displays, historical artifacts, and local vendors, creating an opportunity to learn about and celebrate the rich traditions and contributions of AAPI communities.

Located at 5102 ACL Boulevard, the park was renamed in honor of Bertha Mae Cummings in July 2025.
Known as "Ms. Bert" to neighbors, Cummings helped shape the Lamarville community by securing playground and sports equipment, organizing youth programs, and creating a welcoming space for local families. She also founded the Lamarville Neighborhood Watch to strengthen community connections.
Today, the park features a playground, basketball court, and pavilion.
