Dedicated Staff Help Keep Chatham County Residents Safe and Warm During Winter Weather
We would like to formally recognize and sincerely thank a dedicated group of Chatham County Parks and Recreation staff for their outstanding hard work and commitment in support of the Greenbriar Warming Center.
Preparation for the warming center began on Friday, January 30, 2026, with facility staging completed that afternoon. The center operated overnight from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 31, and Sunday, February 1. In addition to overnight operations, Parks and Recreation staff provided critical support both before opening and after closing each day.
Their efforts included assisting with daily morning cleaning and ensuring the facility was properly reset, cleaned, and fully prepared for the following night’s operations. This behind-the-scenes work was essential to maintaining a safe, welcoming, and functional space for individuals served by the warming center.
Thank you all for your professionalism, compassion, and commitment to serving our community!
