UPDATED: Chatham County Courts and Offices to Close Early Due to Winter Weather

Chatham County, GA (January 20, 2025) - Due to the forecast of snowy and icy conditions, all Chatham County offices will close at noon on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, and remain closed on Wednesday, January 22, 2025. A decision for reopening Thursday, January 23, will be made later after assessing conditions. This decision prioritizes the safety of county employees and residents.
The Coleman Courthouse and Juvenile Court will close at noon tomorrow and remain closed through Wednesday. Anyone who has business with the Courts should CALL ON THURSDAY to reschedule appointments or dockets.
In light of the expected winter impacts, Chairman Chester A. Ellis has declared a local State of Emergency beginning at noon January 21, 2025. The county is preparing for the possibility of near-record low temperatures and dangerous wind chills, especially on Wednesday night, when values could drop to 8–15°F. Accumulating snow and freezing rain are also likely in some areas.
