CEMA Enters Operating Condition Four, the Monitoring Phase, for Potential Tropical Cyclone Nine

Chatham County, GA (September 23, 2024) - Chatham Emergency Management Agency (CEMA) has entered Operating Condition (OPCON) 4, the Monitoring Phase, as Potential Tropical Cyclone Nine (PTC9) approaches the United States. The path and potential impacts to Chatham County from this storm remain uncertain at this time.
Current forecasts models have PTC9 entering into the Gulf of Mexico and rapidly intensifying into a Hurricane. CEMA will continue to monitor changes to the forecast track and ensure storm related information is shared.
All residents are encouraged to monitor this storm as it develops over the next several days.
As a reminder, during hurricane season, it is a good time to review personal emergency plans and replenish or create an emergency kit. As a common practice, individuals, families, and businesses are encouraged to review general storm preparation activities:
- Monitor local authorities for advice and protective actions.
- Prepare or inspect your emergency supply kit, and do not forget your pet’s kit too.
- Document important belongings and consider taking pictures or video of your home.
- Inspect your property for loose, lightweight items that could become airborne.
