Ribbon Cutting Celebrating the Newly Renovated Coleman Park Community Center and Paul G. Blackshear Gymnasium
"Recently, we celebrated the renovation of the Coleman Park Community Center and the construction of the new Paul G. Blackshear Gymnasium in the historic Coleman Park neighborhood.
I’m incredibly proud of our City's team and all those who helped bring this major project to life. This achievement reflects the power of collaboration among our community and city partners, made possible through funding from the 2020 Parks Bond ($1.2 million), the Penny Sales Tax ($3.4 million), and the Capital Acquisition Fund ($100,000).
In addition to these major improvements, Coleman Park now features a new playground and picnic pavilion — funded by an additional $350,000 from the 2020 Parks Bond — providing families and children with more spaces to gather, play, and make lasting memories.
Once home to the Negro Baseball League, where legends like Dan Calloway, Hank Aaron, Don Newcombe, Satchel Paige, and Jackie Robinson played, Coleman Park has always held a special place here in our City’s history.
Thank you to everyone who helped honor this legacy by transforming Coleman Park into a vibrant space for today’s residents and generations to come."
— Mayor Keith A. James
The Ben’s Winter Wonderland Grand Opening
"Over the weekend, I joined our community to celebrate the second year of South Florida’s only outdoor ice skating rink, residing right here in downtown West Palm Beach at The Ben Hotel. This one-of-a-kind attraction has quickly become a beloved holiday tradition, drawing thousands of visitors and adding new energy to our downtown businesses.
This year’s Winter Wonderland is even bigger and brighter, offering more ice, more access, and more opportunities for families to make memories together. My thanks to The Ben for their continued partnership and for helping make West Palm Beach a must-visit destination during the holidays."
— Mayor Keith A. James

Community Highlights & Happenings
  Celebrating Our Waterfront at LagoonFest!
This past weekend, we made a splash at LagoonFest, celebrating the beauty and importance of the Lake Worth Lagoon right here in downtown West Palm Beach! Families, environmental enthusiasts, and visitors enjoyed a day filled with music, food, paddleboarding, and hands-on activities that showcased our City’s vibrant connection to the water.
It was inspiring to see so many residents come together to learn, explore, and celebrate the natural treasure that makes our waterfront community so special. Thank you to everyone who joined us for this fun and educational event!
