UPDATE OCT. 8 | 7 p.m. Hurricane Milton has strengthened into a Category 5 storm with 165 mph sustained winds and gusts over 200 mph moving east/northeast. Landfall is expected just south of Tampa Bay in the very early morning hours of Thursday (Oct. 10). The location of the landfall can and will change as the storm approaches.
Forecasted Impacts • A Hurricane Warning and a Storm Surge Warning remain in effect for Pinellas County. A Flood Watch is also in effect. • 10-15 foot storm surge forecasted • 8-10 inches of rain possible • Hurricane-force winds
Important Messages • Now in effect: Nobody will be allowed access onto Treasure Island except emergency personnel. Those still on the island can leave but will not be permitted back until it’s safe. • If you have not evacuated, you still have time. Go now before conditions begin to deteriorate tomorrow afternoon. • Emergency personnel will not be able to respond to emergencies on the island during the storm. • Pinellas County now has ten shelters open for those evacuating. • Pinellas County Utilities will restrict potable water service at 10 a.m. tomorrow, Oct. 9. •Treasure Island will have to shut down lift stations (sewer system) at 10 a.m. tomorrow, Oct. 9.
