Treasure Island Hurricane Expo

Hurricane season begins on June 1, and the city of Treasure Island wants to help everyone get storm-ready by hosting a Hurricane Expo tomorrow, May 29, from 5 to 8 p.m. at City Hall on the 5th Floor. There will be presentations from city staff about what to do in the event of a storm and how citizens and business owners can prepare. Those who attend will also receive safety and survival tips, flood insurance education, Red Cross information and more. This event will also feature a special presentation by Spectrum Bay News 9 Chief Meteorologist Mike Clay on what to expect this hurricane season.

Most predictions are calling for above-normal tropical activity this year fueled by exceptionally warm ocean waters and an expected shift from El Niño to La Niña. It is crucial for residents to be prepared. The expo will provide valuable information on how to protect yourself and your property during a storm.

Residents are encouraged to visit mytreasureisland.com/stormready to sign up for Alert Pinellas, learn about their evacuation zone, get storm preparation tips and more.
