The city of Treasure Island prides itself on being ahead of the game when it comes to protecting our piece of paradise. One way to do that is to explore technical programs that will sustain our beach community into the future. One of the programs that the city is rolling out is Elevate T.I. This innovative program provides the framework to require the use of fill material when redeveloping, essentially removing the city’s existing no-fill policies. The city’s Local Planning Agency Board will have their first discussion about Elevate T.I. at a meeting today, Dec. 21, at 2 p.m. at City Hall. You can watch the meeting online, on Spectrum 644, or on Facebook Live. You can also watch the meeting later online on YouTube or Facebook.
You can start learning about Elevate T.I. by visiting ElevateTI.com. To gain a better understanding of the community’s view on the subject, the city has added a survey button to the top of that webpage. In the next few weeks, two videos will be added to the website to help explain the program further – the videos will also be posted to the city’s social media accounts. The first video will highlight why action is needed and the second will explain how Treasure Island will elevate organically as redevelopment occurs over time.
