Idalia Storm Cleanup

See Click Fix

City crews and staff are continuing to do damage assesment across the island and beginning the cleanup process.

The mucking and gutting process is one of the first steps in the rebuilding process after a storm. This phase of construction consists of removing damaged belongings from the home, removing damaged construction materials, and prepping the home for mold treatment.

As residents and businesses continue their post Idalia cleanup we know there will be a lot of debris you will need or want to get rid of. A few notes:

  1. City’s Public Works Department will be picking up yard and vegetation debris along with regular garbage pickup.
  2. Debris from homes, must be separated from regular garbage and yard waste.  Storm damaged household items will be picked up for free, for one week.
  3. Yard waste generated by a private company must be removed by the contractor (ex. Tree Removal Companies)
  4. If you hire a contractor to cut down a tree or do repairs, then be sure they are licensed and fulfill their responsibilities.  Debris generated must be picked up by the contractor or a private garbage hauler.
  5. Clean up could take a week or more.  Please be patient.  Staff will go thru on your regular trash days and collect all that they can.  If you miss them, expect another collection on your next trash day.
