Participants Needed for Lawn Irrigation Well Study in Polk and Sarasota Counties

The Southwest Florida Water Management District (District) and the United States Geological Survey (USGS) are working together to study water use in irrigation wells used strictly for lawns or gardens in Polk and Sarasota counties. The purpose of the study is to gain a better understanding of water use in these types of wells.

Personal information about participants will be kept confidential and the data collected will be used for research purposes only. Researchers will place a clamp-on meter on the well and the data will be collected once a month. Participants benefit by learning about their well water use and seasonal trends, as well as any concerns or issues with their well.

For those interested in participating in the study, please contact Scott McBride at wmcbride@usgs.gov or (813) 363-5665 for more information.
