Walking Trail to Temporarily Close

Starting Today for Habitat Restoration on East Lake Tohopekaliga

ST. CLOUD, Fla. - A walking trail off St. Cloud’s Lakeshore Blvd adjacent to the C-31 canal will close for several months starting today to install temporary pumps needed for habitat restoration on East Lake Tohopekaliga. The parking area for the trail remain open.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) and the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) are partnering to complete the project, which involves the removal of vegetation and organic material from the lake's littoral zone to improve habitat.

The Trail will reopen once pumps are removed, which is scheduled to be completed by June 2020.

For information, contact Bill Graf at wgraf@sfwmd.gov or (407) 858-6100, ext. 3837.
