We expect to launch the new Bay Runner trolley service in early March! While we’re awaiting the vehicles to arrive in Sarasota, staff are busy finalizing plans for daily service.
The free open-air trolley will run on a fixed route between downtown, St. Armands Circle and Lido Beach every day from 8 a.m. to midnight, including holidays, with 13 predetermined stops. We anticipate the ride will be so convenient, easy and enjoyable people will want to leave their car behind and inherently help ease road congestion, especially during peak times.
Standby for a launch date announcement soon!

More public parking options will be available soon on Ringling Boulevard near the busy Judge Lynn Silvertooth Judicial Center. Years ago, this was the site of the Sarasota Police station before it was razed in 2012.
A total of 48 parking spaces, including an EV charging station, will be available at $1 per hour paid at a pay station with cash or credit, or through the ParkMobile app. The new surface lot will be accessible from Adams Lane and will be a short walk to the judicial center, Payne Park and adjacent tennis courts.
The new parking lot is a joint venture between the City and Sarasota County, with the County funding half the construction costs. Revenues generated will be shared equally. Look for the lot to open to the public in early March.

The Rosemary District is undergoing a renaissance and being transformed before our eyes with new residences, shops, eateries and colorful visual arts. Over three days, 10 murals were painted on privately-owned walls and structures as part of last month’s PINCfest, a festival focused on people, ideas, nature and creativity. While the murals are not part of the City’s public art collection (funded through developer contributions) they are available for the public to see, enjoy and contemplate.
Currently, several murals are part of the City’s extensive Public Art collection, including pieces at the Palm Avenue Garage, BOLD and The Mark.
Our Office of Public Art, led by Mary Davis Wallace, is in the process of creating a new Public Art master plan. It’s a significant endeavor focused on broad community outreach and input from residents, artists and business owners. Learn more about the Public Art program here.
Public art helps create community and a sense of place, and we applaud PINCFest founder and RADD (Rosemary Art and Design District) champion Anand Pallegar for fanning the interest in street art and urban murals.
