Part of Broward Blvd. closed
Broward County began work on sidewalks down Broward Boulevard running from University Drive to Hiatus Road. The main work is on the existing sidewalk and ADA-accessible pedestrian curb ramps. Work will conclude Aug. 29, barring any unforeseen conditions or weather delays.
During construction in off-peak hours (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.), a single lane will be closed to vehicular traffic. Access to some driveways and sidewalks will be affected for one or two days and pedestrian traffic will be detoured to use the sidewalks across from the work zone. Variable message signs will be posted to advise affected motorists and pedestrians.

Bridges
The Plantation City Council and Plantation Acres residents expressed support for an application for a Florida Department of Environmental Protection Recreational Trails Program (RTP) grant to help repair the bridges at Volunteer Park.
Estimated cost for the “Y” Bridge repairs is $700,000. The request for the grant would cover half. The city heard from the residents how important it is to repair both bridges that have been closed for safety reasons and is committed to doing so.

The outdoor hockey rink at Plantation Central Park will be closed starting March 24 for resurfacing as the city teams up with the Florida Panthers for a fresh, upgraded look.
The partnership with the Panthers will bring an exciting transformation that players and fans will love, parks officials say.
