As we step into 2025, I want to thank you for being an important part of our Plantation community. I’m excited about what we can accomplish together in the months ahead.
One of my priorities as your Mayor is to keep you informed and engaged. I’m kicking off this first newsletter of the year by providing some important city contacts and answers to frequently asked questions. My belief is simple: the more informed we all are, the stronger our city becomes.

Read our Strategic Plan
My focus has always been on moving the city forward by addressing the existing problems and preserving what has made Plantation a great community over its more than seven decades of existence. While the city is growing in certain areas to support the dining and entertainment opportunities, we will continue to protect the character of our single-family neighborhoods, trees, parks and keep working on improving the traffic flow, pedestrian and bicycle mobility.
 |
|
To do that, we have to be strategic and on the same page with our residents, City Council and the departmental leadership team. That’s why we will continue to listen to the community and work on implementing our Strategic Plan.
I look forward to once again getting together the City Council, my administration and department directors for a strategic planning session on Feb. 6 to evaluate the progress we’ve made, discuss the emerging needs and define the priorities.

Take the Midtown Survey
One thing we're looking forward to is making our Midtown district more accessible by foot. There is currently an asphalt survey asking our residents and visitors their thoughts on transportation, safety improvements and traffic flow. Take the survey: Surveymonkey.com/r/MidtownAsphalt. Closes Jan. 20.
Displays, Food and Rock the Park
The 39th Winter Wonderland exhibit at the Historical Museum closes this Saturday, Jan. 4. Stop by from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and see over 50 different trees, miniature holiday village, train display and more before the exhibit is gone.
Check out the Farmers Market at Volunteer Park every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. This market runs year round and serves fresh and homemade goods.
The first Rock the Park concert of 2025 is this Saturday, Jan. 4 featuring Vertigo and Original Sin at Pine Island Park. Food trucks open at 6 p.m. and music kicks off at 7 p.m. Bring your family and friends, blankets and chairs, just remember to keep your dogs at home.
