NOTICE TO INDUSTRY:
2025 Catastrophe Reporting Form (CRF)
The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (OIR) has posted the 2025 Catastrophe Reporting Form (CRF) for collecting claims and other relevant information from insurance companies following a natural disaster causing catastrophic damage in the state of Florida.
The OIR is providing the 2025 CRF to companies in preparation for the Atlantic Hurricane Season, which will begin on June 1, 2025. If a natural disaster causes catastrophic damage in the state of Florida, all insurers and other regulated entities will be required to provide claims and other relevant information using the CRF.
The 2025 CRF template can be viewed by clicking the button below.
Immediately following an event, companies will be required to submit simplified claims data. At a time specified by OIR, OIR will provide notice that companies must submit enhanced claims data.
Simplified Claims Data: Includes all tabs within the CRF, excluding the “Survey” tab
Enhanced Claims Data: Includes all tabs within the CRF, including the “Survey” tab
Depending on OIR direction, companies will either file the Simplified CRF or the Enhanced CRF.
2025 CRF Changes
The 2025 CRF template is enhanced to classify Claims Closed Without Payment into two distinct categories: Substantive and Administrative
- Companies are required to disclose all reasons claims are closed without payment for Substantive reasons separately on the Simplified and Enhanced forms.
- Companies must combine all Administrative reasons claims are closed without payment on the Simplified form and disclose all Administrative reasons claims are closed without payment separately on the Enhanced form.
- In light of multiple claims closed without payment fields overlapping with other fields, a number of fields have either been eliminated and/or merged into other fields.
- One field, “Claims Closed Due to Claim System Not Capturing Specific Data Points” is eliminated.
OIR expects all companies to capture all reasons claims are closed without payment and therefore, report those reasons in the designated fields classified by OIR in the 2025 CRF. Existing claims closed without payment fields are updated to create more transparency and provide additional clarity on reasons claims are closed without payment. Overall, the number of claims closed without payment fields is condensed from 17 from the 2024 CRF to 9 for the 2025 CRF.
